Blissful fable

Ruixin Mao

This project contains four meaningful traditional Chinese-style patterns, which represent four different meanings: longevity, prosperity, wealth and love. Each pattern uses an animal pattern as the main element, combined with other pattern elements that have similar meanings in Chinese tradition, to form a pattern with blessing meaning. I want to bless people through traditional Chinese patterns with beautiful meanings.

Blissful Fable

The four patterns represent four meanings, longevity, prosperity, wealth and love. Each pattern is composed of many patterns expressing corresponding meanings in traditional Chinese culture.I hope to bless people through the meanings expressed by these four patterns.

Source of inspiration

I first came up with the idea while writing my dissertation, My topic of dissertation is The investigation of traditional chinese elements in 21st century fashion design. While I was doing research for my dissertation, I also searched for traditional cultures of other countries. I realised that different countries have different cultures, but these different cultures often have very similar aspirations. Just like people always hope that the old people they love can live longer, hope that they can have a successful career, hope to become rich, or hope to have loyal love. So I came up with the idea of creating this project, using patterns with auspicious meanings in Chinese tradition to express these common wishes in order to bless people.

My Products

My patterns can create a variety of daily necessities, so I will register a print on demand website to sell various products.

Installation art

My patterns can also be used to create installation art. I have huge lanterns and umbrellas that I can hang on the roof of the showroom.By adding light and music, I hope my exhibition can give people an immersive experience. This way it helps people feel their innermost desires. What do they really want for their lives. I created some installation art miniatures, including some chairs and screens that could be used as exhibition decorations.
