ABOUT ME
The main inspiration of my surreal paintings, especially the paintings on real photos, came from the Canadian artist Trevor Henderson. His style relates to creatures and ghosts that “are not inherently killers, but perhaps docile or even intelligent and friendly. As they are so alien to initial perception, it is unknown whether they can cause physical or mental harm,” said Henderson in an interview with Dailydead.com. My project investigates Cosmic horror and moves the genre further into animation for a Thai audience.
My project is based on the concept of Cosmic Horror. Cosmic Horror is a sub-genre of sci-fi horror developed by the American Author H.P. Lovecraft. The purpose of this work is to introduce my audience to the concept of Cosmic Horror or to at least inspire them to research more about the sub-genre.
Therefore, I have created animations and digital paintings to begin conversations to that end.
I aim to stir emotions and feelings of insignificance, thus bringing about a basic understanding of what Cosmic Horror is.
This video series will assist towards introducing and changing social views on Cosmic Horror; Letting people know that it’s more than just a genre with tentacle monsters.
digital illustration and animation
The scope of this project incorporated surreal digital paintings used as animations to be aimed at Thai teenagers and young adults.
This project required research about Cosmic Horror, the literary philosophy of Cosmicism, and surreal digital painting.
